소니, HBO등과 손잡은 구글TV, 다가오는 상상력의 세계

이달 구글TV가 발매될 예정입니다.
이로서 애플의 스마트폰로부터 시작되어 숨가쁘게 진행되어 온 첨단기술 레이스들이 계속 새로운 기술을 만들어 내는 빠른 변화가 계속되고 있습니다.
구글은 이번에 소니 등과 손잡고 하드웨어를, NBC, HBO 들과 손잡고 어플리케이션을 제공할 예정으로 언제나 그랬듯 적절한 전략적 제휴를 활용해 무리한 리스크를 피하면서 웹 컨텐츠와 TV의 결합으로 파워풀한 광고 수익시장에 진출한 상황입니다.
어쨌거나 소비자 입장에선 그간 영화에서 보아오던 상상력의 세계가 한층 더 가까이 다가오는 계기가 되겠네요.
이제 시장이 도입 및 활성화 단계를 거칠 테니 새로운 기술과 디바이스, 다양한 애플리케이션이 추가되면 수십 년 간 지속된 생활패턴이 바뀔 수 있습니다.
Google TV to Debut This Month With HBO, NBC
Google Inc.’s TV service, debuting this month on Sony Corp. and Logitech International SA devices, will include content from Time Warner Inc.’s HBO, General Electric Co.’s NBC, Netflix Inc. and Twitter Inc.
Google, which first announced the service in May, also will feature TBS, TNT, CNN and the Cartoon Network channels, and an application from the National Basketball Association, according to a blog posting today. In addition to Sony and Logitech, Dish Network Corp. has said it plans to deliver the service.
“This is just the beginning,” Google said on the blog. “Over the next few weeks, you can expect to hear from more sites that are enhancing their Web content for the television.”
The companies aim to capitalize on growing demand for content that combines Internet features with television programming. For Google, the world’s most popular search engine, the TV service provides a new way to sell advertising, which makes up most of its revenue.
NBC will provide CNBC Real-Time, an application that combines stock information and financial news. HBO will contribute a service called HBO GO, which lets users access shows on-demand. Other Web content partners include the New York Times Co., Pandora Media Inc. and Amazon.com Inc.’s Amazon Video on Demand, which will offer access to more than 75,000 titles.
Google, based in Mountain View, California, fell $3.27 to $522.35 at 4 p.m. New York Time on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The shares have dropped 16 percent this year.

소니와 로지텍의 장비로 이달 모습을 드러내는 구글 TV가 타임워너의 HBO, GE의 NBC, 넷플릭스, 트워터 등의 컨텐츠를 포함할 예정이다.
지난 5월 처음 발표됐던 구글TV에서는 TBS, TNT, 카툰 네트워크 채널들, 전미 농구협회의 방송들을 볼 수 있을 것이라고 오늘 블로그에 올린 글에서 밝혔다. 이 밖에도 소니, 로지텍, 디쉬 넷트웍사가 서비스를 제공할 계획이라고 말했다.
구글은 블로그를 통해 이것은 시작이며 향후 수주 내에 TV를 통해 더 많은 사이트의 컨텐츠를 얻을 수 있을 것이라고 말했다.
기업들은 인터넷과 TV프로그래밍의 조합으로 생성된 컨텐츠의 수요가 늘어나도록 노력하고 있다. 세계에서 가장 인기 있는 검색엔진인 구글의 TV서비스 제공은 수익창출을 위한 광고 판매의 새로운 길을 제공하고 있다.
NBC는 주가정보와 금융뉴스를 제공하는 실시간 CNBC를 공급하고 HBO는 HBO GO라고 불리는 서비스를 제공할 것이다. 뉴욕타임즈, 판도라 미디어, 아마존이 보유한 75,000개 이상의 주문형비디오 등을 포함해 파트너 들과의 웹 컨텐츠를 제공할 것이다.
구글의 주가는 오후 4시 현재 뉴욕 나스닥 시장에서 3.27불 하락한 522.35불에 거래되고 있으며 구글의 주가는 올해 16%하락했다.
